Ashley has over 10 years of experience conducting and coordinating upland game bird research projects, including projects centered on lesser prairie-chicken (Tympanuchus pallidicinctus) and northern bobwhite (Colinus virginianus) habitat assessments, selection, and movement patterns. She has designed and conducted vegetation community surveys and assessed the ecological effects of different management techniques, including prescribed fire, in eastern and western systems in the United States. Ashley has worked extensively with private landowners, among other stakeholders, and is experienced in conveying results to a wide-variety of audiences, including technical and the general public.
Juniors and seniors in the Methods in Range Ecology class at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will be conducting small, semester-long research projects focused on fire and grazing; testing their own assumptions about the expected impacts of fire and grazing on the South Texas landscape.
